Ron DeSantis begins Defeat the Jihad tour on Florida Panhandle

Ponte Vedra Republican Ron DeSantis, in a Senate primary field comprised of hawks, is staking out perhaps the most hawkish territory possible this month. He’s beginning his “Defeat the Jihad” speaking tour this week.

DeSantis speaks Monday evening in Pensacola at the Crowne Plaza Grand Hotel, and Tuesday evening in Panama City at the Holiday Inn on MLK Boulevard. Both events start at 6 p.m.

“The events in Paris, San Bernardino, and Brussels make clear that our country needs a new strategy for combating the radical Islamic terrorism and the global jihad,” DeSantis said. “The next senator from Florida needs to have a clear plan for how to deal with this threat and as an Iraq veteran, reserve Navy officer, proven conservative, and leader on national security issues, I know the steps that need to be taken to get this done.
“Protecting the American people is the preeminent responsibility of the federal government, and I look forward to sharing my vision with communities throughout the panhandle this week and then carrying this message throughout Florida.”
