Local Amazon customers could soon enjoy one- and two-hour delivery service, as the online retailer launches Prime Now in the Tampa Bay area.
As first reported by Ashley Gurbal Kritzer of the Tampa Bay Business Journal, Amazon is leasing about 30,000 square feet of warehouse space center off Adamo Drive and is currently providing orientation for new part-time associates for the Prime Now service.
Since Amazon has opened fulfillment centers in both Lakeland and Ruskin, Prime customers have the option of free same-day shipping on select orders over $35.
Prime Now, Kritzer writes, is now available in more than 25 cities across the U.S., with free two-hour delivery seven days a week. Some markets offer one-hour delivery for $7.99.
“Amazon has innovated on an already awesome customer shopping experience by improving delivery times to as little as one hour,” says a posting on the Amazondelivers.jobs website. “In Amazon Prime Now, you will fill Prime customer orders and prepare them for delivery. You can even volunteer to deliver it yourself! Items for delivery include a large variety of everyday needs including food, household items, apparel and so much more!”
Among other requirements, Amazon Prime Now Associates must be 18 years or older, with a high school diploma or GED, have reliable transportation (if interested in driving) and should be “comfortable communicating directly with our customers both verbally and in writing.”
