Darren Soto picks up Osceola County officials’ endorsements in CD 9 race

Democratic state Sen. Darren Soto has picked up several endorsements from Osceola County elected officials for his Congressional District 9 race, his campaign announced Tuesday.

Soto, one of five candidates seeking the Democratic flag in the upcoming Aug. 30 primary, has received the new endorsements of current and former officials from Osceola County, including District 3 County Commissioner Brandon Arrington, Osceola County School Board Member Kelvin Soto, former St. Cloud Mayor Donna Hart and former St. Cloud Deputy Mayor Tom Griffin.

CD 9 includes much of south-central Orange County, northeast Polk County and all of Osceola County.

“Darren Soto actually cares about Osceola County. He worked to bring back $24 million from Tallahassee to build Valencia College’s campus in Poinciana,” Arrington stated in a news release issued by Soto’s campaign. “Darren Soto is running for Congress for all the right reasons — to bring high-paying jobs and better education opportunities here.”

Darren Soto, of Orlando, faces Susannah Randolph of Orlando, Dena Minning of Orlando, Valleri Crabtree of Kissimmee and Ricardo Rangel of Kissimmee in the Democratic primary.

“Darren Soto is a champion for Osceola County,” Kelvin Soto added.
