Democrat Jennifer Webb, who just entered the House District 69 race last month, announced on Tuesday she had raised more than $20,000 since declaring her candidacy.
“I am so proud of the broad level of support our campaign has received from over 100 donors in the first 23 days on the trail and I look forward to bring their voice in the Legislature,” Webb said in a statement. “It’s time for a state representative who puts the people of Pinellas first.”
Webb’s fundraising totals for April had not been reported by the Florida Division of Elections website as of Tuesday afternoon, so it’s not known exactly how much money she raised, or where it came from.
Webb serves as director of community engagement at the University of South Florida, where she earned her Master’s degree. This is the Gulfport resident’s first foray into electoral politics.
She’s running against Republican incumbent Kathleen Peters, who announced on Monday that she had raised more than $11,000 in April and now has raised a total of $141,000 (with more than $114,000 cash-on-hand).
HD 69 includes Gulfport, Madeira Beach, Pinellas Park, South Pasadena, St. Pete Beach, Treasure Island and parts of St. Petersburg.
