Mary Thomas has received enough signatures to secure a spot on the ballot.

Thomas announced Friday she received enough verified signatures to qualify for the Congressional District 2 race. The Tallahassee Republican collected all of her qualifying petitions from the 19 counties in the congressional district.

“I felt it was important to go the extra mile and collect petition signatures only from those voters who live within the 19 countries that make up the Second District,” she said in a statement. “My campaign team and I collected these petitions by going door-to-door and meeting voters face-to-face. We listened to the people and talked with them about their hopes to elect an outsider like me, a fresh, new, true conservative, not another lobbyist or political insider. Our campaign is about saving the American dream by making America great again, and that message is resonating with Republican voters all across North Florida.”

State records show Thomas received 2,313 verified signatures. She needed 2,298 signatures to qualify.

Thomas faces Republicans Neal Patrick Dunn, Jeff Moran and Ken Sukhia in the Aug. 30 primary.

The official qualifying period for congressional races runs from noon on June 20 until noon on June 24.
