Susannah Randolph has picked up another union endorsement in her bid for the Democratic nomination to run in Florida’s 9th Congressional District, this time from the American Federation of Government Employees.
The organization is the largest federal employee labor union, boasting more than 66,000 members including food inspectors, nurses, correctional officers, lawyers, police officers, park rangers, border patrol agents and transportation security officers, among others.
“Susannah has devoted her career to public service, and has spent years working to improve the lives of Florida’s working families, said AFGE District 5 National Vice President Everett Kelley in a press release issued by the Randolph campaign. “With Susannah Randolph in Congress, we know that we’ll have a true champion on Capitol Hill.”
Randolph faces state Sen. Darren Soto, Dena Grayson and Valleri Crabtree in the Aug. 30 Democratic primary for CD 9, which includes Osceola County, south-central Orange County and eastern Polk County. The Republican primary features Wayne Liebnitzky and Wanda Rentas.
“We rely on hardworking government employees to move our economy — whether they’re caring for our nation’s veterans, protecting our country’s borders, delivering our Social Security checks and so much more,” Randolph stated.
