Democratic PAC EMILY’s List has endorsed Stephanie Murphy in her race for Florida’s Seventh Congressional District.
Emily’s List stated Murphy was a candidate who would fight for women and families.
“Unlike her opponent, Republican Congressman John Mica, Stephane will work to end gender discrimination in pay, expand healthcare for women and protect women and families from violence,” EMILY’s list said. “EMILY’s List is proud to support Stephanie in her bid for election in this crucial swing district.”
Murphy saw the endorsement as another notch in her belt that only boosted her values.
“I am honored and thrilled to have Emily’s List’s support,” Murphy said in a statement. “With their help I know that we will win in November. As a strong supporter of women’s rights, their support means we will have the resources we need to defeat Congressman Mica.”
In the race for CD 7, Murphy is the sole Democratic challenger to Mica. The other candidates include another Republican, Mark Busch, and a write-in candidate, Mike Plaskon.
