Former Jacksonville Sheriff John Rutherford, despite leading his Democratic challenger by 40 points in an internal poll, continues to raise funds.
Oct. 31 saw the GOP candidate’s treat bag filled not with candy confections but campaign cash, with $11,100 added to the Republican’s coffers ahead of an all-but-decided voter verdict on Election Day.
The biggest Jacksonville name coming through: contractor W.W. Gay.
Gay and his wife each gave the congressional candidate $2,700.
PAC money also came through on Halloween for Rutherford.
The National Restaurant Association PAC and the AT&T Federal PAC each donated $1,000 to the Rutherford cause.
Rutherford has enjoyed robust fundraising in the last couple of weeks.
Last week, we reported he had $56,600 in new money, via 48-hour contribution notices, since Oct. 19. This was in addition to $35,645 he had on hand on that date.
Meanwhile, Rutherford’s opponent, Democrat Dave Bruderly, had $11,309 on hand as of Oct. 19, and has reported no fundraising since.
