Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Patrick Murphy and Democratic CD 10 candidate Val Demings will attend Church together Sunday according to a news release from Murphy’s campaign.
The pair will attend services at Saint Mark African Methodist Episcopal on Bruton Boulevard at 9:30 a.m.
Murphy is in the final sprint against incumbent Republican U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, who decided to run for re-election this cycle after bowing out of the presidential race.
Most recent polls show Rubio with a lead of about 3 points over Murphy.
Demings, the former police chief of Orlando, is running against Republican Thuy Lowe for the CD 10 seat, and unlike Murphy most polls show her winning the seat by a comfortable margin.
Florida’s 10th Congressional District became more friendly to Democrats after Florida courts approved new congressional maps in late 2015. The newly redrawn district holds far more Democrats than Republicans and in 2012 it voted plus 22 for Obama.
The new lines led current CD 10 Republican Rep. Daniel Webster to forego re-election in the district and to instead run in CD 11, where Republicans have much better odds.
