Another day, another veto for Cord Byrd

Cord Byrd

Another veto dropped Tuesday from Gov. Rick Scott for Rep. Cord Byrd, as the Governor vetoed yet another priority request for the freshman Northeast Florida Republican.

Tuesday saw proposed expansion of the purview of the Ocean Highway and Port Authority of Nassau County get the axe.

Scott’s objection was that the bill authorized construction of infrastructure outside of FDOT Work Program’s scope, pushes for infrastructure in Georgia, and authorizes the Authority the ability to issue bonds.

The veto pen hit Byrd a few other times recently, including a veto of $3M for the Port of Fernandina’s crane and warehouse.

As well, Neptune Beach lost after the gubernatorial veto pen X’d out $400,000 for stormwater culvert improvements.
