After months of speculation, Gov. Rick Scott is expected Monday to announce that he will run for the U.S. Senate.
The announcement would set up a battle this fall with U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson that could play a role in determining control of the Senate.
Not much is known about the plans for Scott’s roll-out. He tweeted recently that he will make a “big announcement” on April 9, but did not provide details.
But with less than 24 hours before the big day, some details have begun to leak out.
Here’s the latest on the Scott announcement watch:

— Scott will make a “major announcement” at a 10:00 a.m. press conference at ODC Construction in Orlando, followed by a 2:30 p.m. press conference at Sun Harvest Citrus in Ft. Myers.
— Scott World alumni have received an email asking them if they “have interest in joining Governor Scott for his major announcement.” If they do and reply to the email, announcement details “will be provided back to you ASAP.” The follow-up emails have not yet been sent.
— The Lee County Republican Party emailed its members with an alert that Scott would be in Fort Myers at 2:15 p.m. on Monday.
— Adam Smith of the Tampa Bay Times reports that Scott will be ending Monday at a $10,000 per person fundraiser at the St. Petersburg residence of Ambassador Mel and Betty Sembler.
— The Miami Dade GOP, per Alex Leary of the Tampa Bay Times, is inviting Republicans to a “major announcement” on Tuesday afternoon in Hialeah.
— The Democratic-aligned Senate Majority PAC announced Sunday morning it is launching a six-figure digital buy centered around this ad:
