Tuesday saw the latest in a series of high-profile endorsements for the first statewide campaign of appointed CFO Jimmy Patronis, via Senate President-designate Bill Galvano.
Galvano, who represents southern Hillsborough and Manatee Counties, issued an unstinting endorsement of Patronis.
“I am proud to announce my support and endorsement of CFO Jimmy Patronis in his re-election bid. In the short amount of time Jimmy has been CFO, he has quickly proven that he is the right leader to manage Florida’s financial services and continue to serve our state in this capacity,” said Galvano.
“Jimmy’s experience in the private sector, his dedication to public service, and his unwavering dedication to our first responders make him a uniquely qualified leader and an exceptional CFO,” Galvano added.
Patronis faces nominal opposition for the Republican nomination.
Though April campaign finance numbers have not been made available yet, Patronis had roughly $2.5 million on hand as of the end of March.
The sole Democratic candidate, former Yahoo! executive Jeremy Ring, had roughly $375,000 on hand at the end of March.
Like Patronis, the Margate Democrat has yet to report for April.
