#FlaPol in Review: A weekend roundup

A little bit of everything from online over the weekend.

Saturday and Sunday saw folks in orange flood the Twittersphere to express their support for raising the awareness of gun violence. Many Democratic pols grabbed themed-garb, but this edition includes only a few examples.

On Sunday, Gov. Rick Scott congratulated the graduating class at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, the site of the Feb. 14 Parkland tragedy:

The Friday before the weekend, Scott’s campaign account took advantage of National Donut Day to highlight a touching story about the Governor’s earliest small-business venture:

Meanwhile incumbent Democratic U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson showed even he is willing to knock on doors this cycle:

In the statewide race for the Governor’s Mansion, Democratic candidate Gwen Graham spent time in Tallahassee, an area she represented in Congress:

Miami Beach Mayor Philip Levine, who also is running for the Democratic nod in the gubernatorial race, sported orange this weekend with many others to raise awareness of gun violence:

Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum did likewise, finding a way to fashion the color into his suit:

Orlando businessman Chris King, who unveiled a plan last week to fund gun violence prevention and intervention initiatives via revenue collected from bullet taxes, called out Sarah Palin after the former Governor of Alaska shared an article criticizing the plan:

Republican candidate for Governor Adam Putnam was honored Sunday by the Purple Heart Veterans of Florida:

In statewide Cabinet races, some candidates aren’t showing any sign of summer apathy.

Republican Agriculture Commissioner candidate Denise Grimsley, also a state senator, highlighted her team’s ability to hit pockets across the state in just one week:
