U.S. Rep. Stephanie Murphy announced Wednesday he subcommittee assignments on the powerful House Ways and Means committee will include service on the panels overseeing trade and workers and families.
Murphy, a Winter Park Democrat, is the only member of the Florida Democratic delegation serving on the House committee that writes tax laws.
On Wednesday she announced appointments to the Trade Subcommittee chaired by U.S. Rep. Earl Blumenauer, an Oregon Democrat; and the Worker and Family Support Subcommittee [previously known as the Human Resources Subcommittee], chaired by U.S. Rep. Danny Davis, an Illinois Democrat.
The former subcommittee includes oversight of customs, tariffs, reciprocal trade agreements, and international trade rules and organizations. The latter includes such areas as unemployment insurance, supplimental security, and foster care.
