West Park Rep. Shevrin Jones is holding a campaign fundraiser for his 2020 Senate bid on Feb. 20 in Tallahassee.
Joining Jones at the Clyde’s and Costello’s event are a number of politicians, lobbyists and associations, including Alan Suskey of Suskey Consulting, Joseph Salzverg of GrayRobinson, Taylor Biehl of Capitol Alliance Group, former Tallahassee Mayor candidate Dustin Daniels and the representatives of the Florida Association of School Administrators.
The event will run from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. A $250 contribution will earn attendees a spot on the host committee.
The fundraiser will benefit his campaign account as well as his political committee, Florida Strong Finish.
Jones, a Democrat, is running for Senate District 35, the seat currently held by Sen. Oscar Braynon, who faces term limits in 2020. So far, four Democrats have entered the race: former Sen. Daphne Campbell, Miami Gardens City Councilman Erhabor Ighodaro and former Rep. Cynthia Stafford.
Campbell represented Senate District 38 until she was ousted by now-Sen. Jason Pizzo in the 2018 Democratic primary. Stafford represented House District 109 from 2010 through 2018, when she left office due to term limits.
Ighodaro currently holds a fundraising lead with $5,350 banked, followed by Jones with about $3,000 and Stafford with $1,800. Campbell has not yet filed her first campaign finance report.
