Victor Garcia da Rosa to challenge Lois Frankel in CD 21

“Voters will soon recognize my passionate commitment to the Constitution.”

Incumbent Democratic U.S. Rep. Lois Frankel has courted her first 2020 challenger, as Republican candidate Victor Garcia da Rosa has declared in candidacy in Florida’s 21st Congressional District.

Garcia da Rosa is a political novice who emphasized adherence to constitutional principles in a statement announcing his run.

“Voters will soon recognize my passionate commitment to the Constitution of the United States of America,” Garcia da Rosa said.

“Any legislation that blatantly ignores the Constitution or the intentions of the Founding Fathers is alarming, reprehensible and will receive a nay vote from me.”

Garcia da Rosa’s statement also states he will “reform important school safety measures with legislation that retains the imperative 2nd amendment rights.” Garcia da Rosa is also described as “pro-Israel, pro-free speech, pro-freedom of religion, pro-term-limits, fiscally responsible, and excited to represent the true conservative voice.”

It remains to be seen whether Garcia da Rosa, or any other challenger, can pose a threat to the incumbent in 2020. Frankel won her 2016 contest for the seat by more than 27 percentage points and was unchallenged in 2018.

CD 21 covers parts of Broward and Palm Beach counties.
