The fundraiser will be held Sept. 25 in Coconut Grove.

State Rep. Shevrin Jones will look to keep his Senate campaign rolling with a Sept. 25 fundraiser in Coconut Grove.

The event features a star-studded host committee topped by former Democratic gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum.

Also on the list: Sens. Lauren Book and Oscar Braynon, Rep. Nick Duran and former Rep. Joe Saunders, who is now the political director of Equality Florida.

Jones picked up Equality Florida’s first endorsement of the 2020 cycle.

The invite lists three contribution tiers: $500 for co-hosts, $1,000 for hosts and $2,500 for the “champion” designation. Those looking to attend the fundraiser must RSVP with the campaign.

Jones is running for the Senate District 35 seat currently held by Braynon, who faces term limits in 2020.

He is one of five Democrats signed up to run for the South Florida-based seat, with his opponents including former Sen. Daphne Campbell, Miami Gardens City Council member Erhabor Ighodaro and former Rep. Cynthia Stafford.

He’s already off to a solid start in fundraising, with nearly $140,000 raised through the end of July. His campaign accounts for nearly $87,000 of that sum while his political committee, Florida Strong Finish, has raised the other $52,000.

SD 35 covers portions of Broward and Miami-Dade counties including Miramar, West Park, Miami Gardens and Opa-locka. It has a strong Democratic lean.

The fundraiser invitation is below.

I guess that’s good news for “Shev” if he wants the support of the soon-to-be-indicted. One tends to be judged by the company one keeps. Bear that in mind, Shev.
