State Rep. Ana Maria Rodriguez is holding a fundraiser for her Senate District 39 campaign later this month, and the guest list is massive.
Topping the invite is Lt. Gov. Jeanette Nuñez, who is listed as a “special guest.” Host duties fall to Hialeah Republican Sen. Manny Diaz, who represents neighboring Senate District 36.
Dozens more Republican lawmakers are listed on the host committee for the Oct. 30 event, which will be at the InterContinental in Doral.
Among them: Senate President Bill Galvano, President-designate Wilton Simpson, House Speaker Jose Oliva, Speaker-designate Chris Sprowls and Sen. Anitere Flores, who currently holds SD 39.
Including Rodriguez, Oliva and Sprowls, 47 House Republicans will be in the building.
Rodriguez is running in what may be the most competitive state Senate race on the 2020 ballot.
Rodriguez faces Angie Chirino in the primary, with Democratic Rep. Javier Fernandez being the winner’s likely general election opponent.
At the end of September, Rodriguez had about $190,000 on hand in her committee, Ethics and Honesty in Government, with another $184,000 banked in her campaign account.
Fernandez, who entered the race in late August, had about $104,000 banked heading into October, including $30,000 carried over from his shuttered reelection campaign in House District 114.
SD 39 covers all of Monroe County and part of Miami-Dade County.
