A Florida Chamber of Commerce poll shows Gov. Ron DeSantis in position to win re-election against either major Democrat running.
Cherry Communications polled the Republican incumbent in hypothetical head-to-head matchups and found a slight majority of respondents favoring him regardless. Against Nikki Fried, DeSantis polls at 50% while she takes 43% of the vote.
In a DeSantis versus Charlie Crist matchup, the poll also found Crist polling at 43% but DeSantis coming in at 51%.
A poll released this week by the University of North Florida shows similar results. But most polls in the Real Clear Politics aggregate show Crist winning the Democratic Primary and doing the best against DeSantis.
Polling, including the Chamber and UNF polls, agree DeSantis holds a distinct advantage heading into the November General Election Cycle. And with results also showing likely voters bullish about the Florida economy compared to the nation as a whole, the findings suggest a fairly easy path to re-election for the Governor.
Cherry Communications polled 608 likely Florida voters between Aug. 4 and 15 through live phone interviews. Pollsters report a margin of error of 4 percentage points.
It’s likely little surprise that the poll shows DeSantis in a position of strength. The Chamber poll also found 54% approve of DeSantis’ job as Governor.
There are clear breaks along partisan lines. About 88% of Republicans like the job he is doing, compared to 52% of nonpartisans. A polling memo released by the chamber did not show Democratic sentiment, but simple math suggests a bulk do not approve and pull DeSantis’ overall approval rating down to the mid-50s.
Pollsters notably found DeSantis boasting particular strength with Hispanic respondents, with 65% approving of his job performance and just 32% disapproving.
Those numbers show greater popularity than Democratic President Joe Biden, something likely to factor into the Midterms. Almost 90% of Republicans and 62% of no-party voters disapprove of Biden’s performance, resulting in about a 60% net disapproval. Only about 34% of Hispanic voters give positive marks to the President.

Women don’t want the government interfering in their medical decisions, and are seeing the horrors that abortion bans are causing in other states: forced motherhood for 10 year olds, women forced to carry dead and dying fetuses (some without skulls and/or brains) for weeks because doctors will go to prison if they remove them, women denied arthritis and cancer medications because a woman or girl COULD become pregnant, etc.
Desantis is losing Trump voters, too, as they watch Ron betraying the guy who got him elected in the first place. Trumpers see Desantis campaigning all around the country, pushing Trump out of the way. Trumpers know the only chance Trump has for a second term is if Desantis loses in 2022. Desatan has already said he will “increase protections for life”. During 2018 debates he stated he will impose a six week ban. He signed an abortion ban at a church and talked about prayers being answered. He followed Catholic Church (4th coequal branch of Florida government) order to refuse contraceptives to poor women. A total ban is expected.
In Europe abortions and contraceptives are free/low cost, available. Childcare, universal preK, free health care, and other social supports are available. Uk and Europe abortion exceptions range from economic to woman’s mental health.
In US women are being denied abortions when their fetus has no brain or skull. 10 year old rape victims are being denied abortions. In Florida a 16 year old was just denied an abortion at 10 weeks —— because an appeals judge said she was “not mature enough “, and that she should try court again after thinking about an abortion. A Florida 17 year old was denied an abortion because of her GPA. This is what is going with abortion rights in Florida and US.
Even Republican fathers are switching to Democrat to save their children from the Republican monsters.

We’ve got a 16 yo girl (was 10 weeks), joined by her guardian ad litem suing to allow an abortion. She says she wants to finish high school and isnt prepared nor can she afford to raise a child.
The court is using her claimed immaturity as an excuse to tell her she cannot make the decision to have an abortion, she is too young to understand. So based on that case alone, Florida is not allowing abortions for any reason up to 15 weeks.
