Marco Rubio ’embarrassed’ for James Taylor after White House performance

'They ask him to come and play his guitar on the day where they're announcing this ... garbage.'

Marco Rubio is weighing in on the Joe Biden administration’s latest foray into pop culture.

Rubio told a national audience Tuesday night that he didn’t know much about legendary singer/songwriter James Taylor, but he was nonetheless “embarrassed” for the 20th century troubadour who played his timeless “Fire and Rain” at the White House celebration of the Inflation Reduction Act earlier in the day.

“I’m going to be honest, I don’t know a lot about James Taylor. I guess he’s won some awards and sold a lot of records… But I’m actually embarrassed for the guy. They ask him to come and play his guitar on the day where they’re announcing this Inflation Reduction (Act) garbage,” Rubio told Fox News.

“In fact, it’s the day when we got this report that food prices, just food prices, are the highest they’ve been since 1979. Baby food is up. Everything is up. People living in the real world know it. I think they look at something like what happened (at the White House) today and you get angered by it, or you feel embarrassed for James Taylor playing the guitar on the lawn of the White House. I’m embarrassed for them.”

Taylor’s performance at the White House was widely noticed Tuesday as an interesting juxtaposition amid surging inflation and a stock selloff the same day. Fox News noted that Taylor had consistently supported Democratic presidential candidates, including Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama.

The choice of song was also remarkable due to its dark subject matter. National Public Radio noted that one verse of the song is about a friend’s death by suicide, another is about Taylor’s addiction to heroin, and the third verse deals with a mental hospital.

Taylor noted that the song was one he had a hard time listening to, but played due to the audience connection to the subject matter.

“But does it ever go flat for me? Yes. Yes, it has,” Taylor told NPR. “If I’m distracted or overwhelmed, I can forget where I am. I mean, there’s a song with three verses with the same form and three choruses following them. There’s no bridge, there’s no release, no break. So I can forget where I am. It’s a terrifying thing, and it doesn’t happen often, but it does, as they say, concentrate the mind.”

Honestly Marco Rubio would be a better candidate if he kept his mouth shut on things he admits he knows nothing about.

He really needs to be voted out of office and forced to get a real job off the government dole.

    The whole WH is embarrassing.
What the hell was this today?
8.3% inflation, after weeks of purposeful WH staff and POTUS lies, conveyed by media.
This dishonest presentation today is appalling.
    Embarrassing with James Taylor.
The only thing that is clear is the lies conveyed that economy abs media were correct.
Not! Poverty up, inflation raging, crime raging, just embarrassing.
    Marco is correct!

👆Vote for me. I’ll put rambling mental cripples like this guy into a GOP mental health unit. Then he will see how Christian fascists deal with sick people.

Yes, the stock market crashes by over 1,000 points. People close to retirement age are seeing their retirement funds disappear. And Joe Dementia and his minions are having a celebration.
Record high gas prices, record high inflation, disaster in Afghanistan, no secure borders, drug over doses at record highs, China buying up our farm land. The military more interested in wokeness, over preparedness. Supply chain issues.
Joe Dementia asleep at the wheel.

Facts don’t matter to the far left. But they do to most Americans

Burned all his music last light. Erased all digital music. He should check into his nearest old age home. Embarrassing washed up singer, probably needs money.

Just wondering if Trump or DeSantis were in the WH, would the economy be any different? Also, what would they do now to fix the economy?
It is easy to criticize, but to offer solutions is difficult

Marco, are there more important things to discuss? Perhaps you can tell us more about your plan to dismantle Social Security and Medicare. Our children want to know if they will be living in poverty after they reach the retirement age (75 or 80?)for these programs.

If your children intend to “live on” social security, they will live in poverty. Perhaps, you should research the history behind this program and its original intent. As for Medicare, without private insurance — well, I would not want to be dependent on Medicare, alone, for medical care. Private insurance is necessary, no matter your age or current so-called old-age benefits.

Senator, for free, Taylor can play his hit, ‘The Blue Horizon’ in honor of your hypocrisy!

This should be an embarrassment to Rubio. James Taylor is a legend. In the day, and is making a substantial comeback. His music is timeless and touching. The fact that Rubio doesn’t have a clue is…..difficult to say. Regarding the heroine and hard times, does Rubio know ANYTHING about the world of music. Hating has become a way of life for so many Americans.

I stand with Joe Biden and the Democrats. Donald Trump and Mr. Putin would be trading love letters in Ukraine by now.
Americans these days expect instant gratification. It’s alarming that so many of us believe the Republicans would have done a better job at this juncture. They only look out for themselves as plainly evident by how they have stayed with the Trump cult in all it’s dishonesty.

Give Joe a break. If the Republicans were in charge the Country and the World would be in a much darker place.
