Ron DeSantis blames Donald Trump shooting on ‘bureaucratic failures’

'How did someone, armed with a rifle, get on top of a roof 150 yards away from the stage?'

Gov. Ron DeSantis is demanding answers from the Joe Biden administration in the wake of Saturday’s assassination attempt of former President Donald Trump.

“D.C. bureaucratic failures almost never result in any accountability; this time needs to be different. Our country is in the peril it’s in partly because the D.C. ruling class has consistently evaded responsibility for its failures,” DeSantis asserts.

The Governor urges “an investigation regarding the security protocols used in Butler.”

“The answer to the following question must be provided in short order,” DeSantis says. “How did someone armed with a rifle get on top of a roof 150 yards away from the stage?”

While in Congress, DeSantis was notably at a scene of political violence, encountering the man who shot Rep. Steve Scalise before tragedy struck at a practice for the Congressional baseball game in 2017.

He invoked that event in his comments Sunday, saying, “The feds categorized the crazed, leftist congressional baseball shooter as “suicide by cop” — even though the shooter had a well-documented left-wing political bent and made sure that the players on the field were Republicans before attacking.”

DeSantis said he and a colleague “reported to police that there was a gentleman that confronted us when we were going to our car, and he wanted to know whether it was Republicans or Democrats that were out there. We said it was Republicans, and he kind of started walking to the field.”

The Governor often has been compelled to address high-profile shooting deaths, a challenge sometimes given his belief in unfettered gun rights and the right to permitless carry.

He has blamed such events on an “underlying sickness in our society” and “liberal, soft-on-crime policies.” He has said institutionalization is a potential solution for mass murders, saying, “Some people are going to do better in an institutional setting.”

He has also mocked the idea, promulgated by leaders in other states, that gun violence is a “public health emergency.” He links that to what he sees as alarmism over COVID.

This is from the governor who has made it easier for any 18-year-old to possess the type of semi-automatic military weapon most used in mass shootings. And to carry weapons without a permit in public.

Outdoor rallies are much harder to control – yet some politicians still insist on doing them.

Plenty of us listen to the wildly popular Governor of Florida. If he could run for a third term he would win easily. Better concern yourself with what the zombie party is going to do.

I tried to listen, all I could hear was cowbells and $160,000,000 sloshing down the drain.

why? please explain why you listen to him? do you ever question what he says or do you follow blindly? He has passed some laws that aren’t terrible but the other laws he has passed over shadow anything good he has done. Are you not paying attention to how sneaky he is and how he has started blocking public records from being shown to the public? Do you not care that our home insurance still hasn’t dropped and is the highest in the nation?

Stop the blame game. He meets the criteria of a mass shooter. 20 yo white make . You usually just say they are mental thoughts and prayers. No one knows his motive. Just wait and see. He is registered REPUBLICAN

A registered Repub that donated money to a left wing group. 20 years old. He’s been hearing the Demo BS since he was 12. Fascist, nazi, end of democracy, etc. etc.

Dearest UNWOKE! Actually the Republican assassin sent a $15.00 dollar donation to a cause encouraging voter participation. You seem to have omitted this crucial fact.

Why cant anybody just admit we love our guns more than we will ever love each other?
And Mr. Desantis, what about ‘Backing the Blue?’ You guys turn on each other like a nest of vipers!
It’s the guns, IB…they really DO kill people. Lots of them. It’s no longer even news. How bout that guy blasting away at concert goers in Las Vegas, if all the school shootings arent enough.

I am all for stricter guidelines when it comes to purchasing weapons. I have a concealed weapon permit and I do so responsibly.

I have heard talk of Trump’s new and improved “Repeal and Replace,” now with 2A, but he can’t openly talk about it until after the election or the 2A types might not vote for him.

Then again if he would tell the 2A types their guns are bad for them and for everyone, maybe they would believe that too like they believe all his other lies.

Did the Secret Service select this rally venue? Did anyone in the GQP vet the location and surrounding buildings? Does the GQP vet anything or anyone? Are Republicans aware that they are incapable of controlling their own Party members …… never mind governing the country.

    Republicans are America’s worst enemy!
Vote all Republicans out of office!

Trump, once again, just like on J6, assumed anyone with a gun wouldn’t be there to shoot him, so no need for magnetometers or security.

Of course he’s gonna blame Biden. How could a guy spewing hate become a victim of a hate crime himself? It boggles the mind. Clearly Ronnie doesn’t own a mirror.

I’m not sure why Ronnie doesn’t direct his ire at the real culprit. After ripping off his mask authorities positively identified the shooter as none other than Mike Pence. And he would’ve gotten away with it too if it hadn’t been for those meddling kids.

I just learned that they screen for weapons at Trump’s rallies. How can the biggest defender of the 2nd amendment not allow guns at his rallies? How are his cult followers going to defend him? This is unAmerican!

“How did someone armed with a rifle get on top of a roof 150 yards away”
The logical answer is that one or more people surrounding Trump wanted the shooter there. Watch the video. The entire episode appears fake. An attempt to distract from Project 2025.
    Project 2025 is theocracy

I’ll agree somewhat. If it WAS fake, Trump certainly didn’t know it was fake. He is not that good of an actor (or anything else)

Why is it that Florida’s governor had the absolute nastiest thing to say and continues to try to divide us. That is no help at all. He needs to get with the program or get out. I prefer the latter.
