GOP hails dismissal of Donald Trump docs case, with a lawmaker suggesting that the Judge move to SCOTUS
Former President Donald Trump rejects calls for "New American Revolution."

Trump
Republicans are celebrating good legal news for the presumptive presidential nominee.

In the wake of a Judge dismissing the classified documents case against former President Donald Trump, Florida Republicans are celebrating.

And one is even saying Judge Aileen Cannon deserves to move up to the big show.

“Future Supreme Court Justice Cannon,” suggested U.S. Rep. Matt Gaetz, one of Trump’s most fervent backers in Florida.

Gaetz’s very early suggestion that Cannon, a Trump appointee in 2020, should move from the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida to the high court was not immediately echoed by other Republicans, who have by and large offered more generic comments.

U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio had a one-word response: “Dismissed!”

The Senator had long been skeptical of the case, arguing as far back as 2022 that the FBI and the Justice Department had been “leaking” to the media.

U.S. Sen. Rick Scott called it a “big win” for Trump.

Scott was likewise very vocal previously in evaluating what he saw as deficiencies and inconsistencies in the government’s case.

“Why did they raid Mar-a-Lago and why didn’t they raid every place (Joe) Biden’s ever been?” Scott said in 2023. “This doesn’t make any sense. They ought to be clear. There might be a legitimate reason. But tell us why they didn’t do it, and why they’re treating this differently.”

“I don’t know how Biden ended up with classified documents from his time in the Senate,” Scott added, referring to documents found in Biden’s Delaware home that predate his time as Vice President.

Rep. Byron Donalds told POLITICO that the “whole thing was the most ridiculous case I’ve ever seen. It made no sense. But that being said, justice was served today.”

“Good! Donald Trump did nothing wrong! End the lawfare,” urged CFO Jimmy Patronis, who had floated a proposal for state funding to help Trump deal with his cases earlier this year.

“DISMISSED! We applaud Judge Aileen Cannon’s commitment to the rule of law,” asserted the Republican Party of Florida. “Justice was served today!”

Trump, meanwhile, asked for “the dismissal of ALL the Witch Hunts — The January 6th Hoax in Washington, D.C., the Manhattan D.A.’s Zombie Case, the New York A.G. Scam, Fake Claims about a woman I never met (a decades old photo in a line with her then husband does not count), and the Georgia ‘Perfect’ Phone Call charges.”

Trump took the documents — which he mentally declared DECLASSIFIED — and then made a search necessary by his obfuscations when the court demanded the documents be returned.

As for Cannon going to SCOTUS: That will be still another affirmative action hire for MAGA adherents.

She has been trying her level best to get rid of that case so it didn’t stick to her (along with the threats of violence from his supporters) since inception. I guess she finally got it done and I’m sure there will be cocktails for all tonight.

You can not dismiss the fact that Trump stole national security documents and did not protect them. He shared this information with people who. did not have national security clearance. Anyone else would already be in jail. The pictures were worth a thousand words. Cannon needs her head examined and this too will be over turned. So sad our country has gotten so corrupt due to one sociopathic man.

Let us not forget that shortly after Donald Trump appointed Cannon to this Federal judgeship …… lawyers from across the USA and from every political discipline deemed Cannon UNFIT TO SERVE AS A FEDERAL JUDGE…..BECAUSE Cannon lacked the knowledge, skills and experience to handle the appointment.

Astonishing. There are two systems of justice if you appoint people who do your bidding, rather than follow the rule of law and precedent.

Agreed. And the SCOTUS decision changing the presidency to a functional monarchy will have effects we can’t even imagine yet. I’m sad for my grandkids..

MAGAs won’t be celebrating when DJT goes to court in Atlanta where the evidence is a taped phone call of Trump begging for another 11k votes.
