Hot on the heels of Ernest Isaac being denied his “last hurrah” on the Jacksonville Aviation Authority, another Alvin Brown board appointee is bidding farewell as of the end of September.
Local attorney Edward Booth, appointed by Brown in 2013, on August 12 “was advised by Jordan Elsbury of Mayor Curry’s office that my services would no longer be required. He advised I was being replaced by someone more aligned with Mayor Curry’s vision. While this is disappointing, I understand how the system works.”
This is not dissimilar to Isaac lamenting that his removal was due to “politics.”
Booth’s most sustained stint in public service: serving as an Assistant State Attorney in Jacksonville from 1982-1985.
Though some City Hall veterans claim that these housecleaning moves are not necessary, the Curry administration clearly wants its own people in place.
