Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry, Council President Greg Anderson, and Jax Chamber Chair Audrey Moran have occasion for more positive talk about Jacksonville’s jobs market Thursday, as the Project Star deal will be officially announced.
Legislation authorizing this passed Tuesday night. It is a a QTI project with Local Financial Support of $30,600 & a State Match of $122,400, for a total of $153,000. Project Star would bring 51 jobs according to the ordinance. However, the press release from the mayor’s office trumpets 100 jobs.
The Jacksonville Business Journal asserts that it involves a “Scottish company that specializes in commercial refrigerators and freezers … announcing a major partnership with Winn-Dixie’s parent company this week…. City Refrigeration plans to announce the agreement later this week with Southeastern Grocers, the parent company of Winn-Dixie, Bi-Lo and Harveys grocery stores.”
In a variation on the usual theme of having these events in the conference room in the mayor’s office, Thursday afternoon’s event will be at the Omni.
Governor Scott hasn’t released his complete schedule yet for Thursday, but these are usually the events that bring the Governor to Jacksonville.
