Former Duval County Sheriff John Rutherford continues to rack up endorsements in his run for Jacksonville’s open Congressional seat.

Duval County Sheriff Mike Williams, St. Johns County Sheriff David Shoar and Nassau County Sheriff Bill Leeper are all supporting Rutherford as he seeks to replace outgoing Congressman Ander Crenshaw, who is retiring, in Congressional District 4.

“John Rutherford is a proven leader and a dear friend. He has shown time and time again that he is committed to north Florida.  Having John represent us in the U.S. House will make us proud,” said Shoar.

Rutherford is seen as the front-runner to win the seat, enjoying high poll numbers and widespread name recognition. He has also won the endorsement of Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry and the financial backing of local kingmaker Peter Rummell. However, as this website has reported, some area Republicans are seeking an alternative name for the race.
