St. Johns County Commissioner Jimmy Johns, running unopposed for re-election, announced Friday that he qualified for the ballot via petition.

“Thanks to the hard work of many, many volunteers I turned in over 1,600 petitions earlier this week. Today the Supervisor of Elections informed me that there was the necessary number to be placed on the ballot”, said Johns. “It is a humbling experience when you see just how many people are willing to take time out of their busy lives to sign one of these for someone that they really do not know well. It speaks to the character of the people of our community.”

Johns, a graduate of Jacksonville University, has $65,000 cash on hand for his run, which has been all but decided already.
