As of now, Travis Hutson, Senate District 7 incumbent, is facing no primary challenge. As a result, his fundraising is slow and steady, but money is coming from the important players.
New April money totaling $6,000 brought Hutson up to $61,475 raised, leaving him roughly $37,000 on hand.
Don’t let the low numbers deceive you: Hutson is well-positioned.
Innovate Florida, Bill Galvano‘s PAC, maxed out for the Northeast Florida senator in April. Also maxing out was the Association of Florida Developers, an exceedingly well-connected, deep-pocketed consortium. As well as John Rood, the Jacksonville power player who is president of Vestcor and was ambassador to the Bahamas during the George W. Bush administration.
AT&T South Florida PAC went $500 deep, as did its close cousin, the AT&T Florida PAC.
Hutson’s expected Democratic opponent, Curtis Ceballos, had a sluggish month of fundraising his first month in the campaign.
The Palm Coast Democrat raised $125 in April, but churned through most of that princely sum.
Expenditures of $119.97 leave Ceballos with $5.03 on hand.
