The political committee backing Gov. Rick Scott continued to boost its coffers in May, raising more than $144,000 in the one-month fundraising period.
State records show “Let’s Get to Work“ — the political committee that fueled Scott’s 2010 and 2014 gubernatorial campaigns — raised $145,100 in May. Since January, the political committee has raise more than $1.4 million.
The committee received a $50,000 contribution from The GEO Group; several $10,000 donations, including ones from the Ferber Company, the Jacksonville Jaguars, and Fidelity Information Services; and a $7,500 donation from Motorola Solutions.
The political committee spent $57,936 in May. That sum included $24,000 paid to Calvary Strategies, LLC., for political consulting. The firm was started by Scott’s former chief of staff, Melissa Sellers.
Scott can’t run for re-election in 2018 because of term limits. But that hasn’t stopped his political committee from staying active. And the Naples Republican is widely believed to be considering a U.S. Senate bid in 2018.
