Attorney Alexis Lambert has something to be thankful for this week; a move to the state of Florida’s Constitution Revision Commission.
“I’ve been hired as the Senior Attorney at the CRC. I’ll be the staff director for the General Provisions committee,” Lambert told us Sunday.
Lambert “got an offer from the Constitution Revision Commission” and just started last week, she said. Her salary is $85,000 a year.
“It happened really fast,” Lambert added.
Lambert’s most recent position was with the Office of Public Accountability in Jacksonville, a five-year stint in which her acerbic wit was appreciated by media requesting public records through that shop.
Lambert was also appreciated for timely fulfillment of records requests, which made that shop unique compared to many other offices in Jacksonville city government.
In addition to serving as an adjunct professor at Florida State University prior to her Jacksonville city tenure, Lambert also had stints as legal counsel for the Florida Senate’s reapportionment committee, as deputy general counsel at the Attorney General’s Office (where she also handled public records and other open government issues), and as deputy finance director for Bill McCollum‘s A.G. campaign.
Lambert, an alumna of the University of Florida’s law school, also did her undergraduate work in Gainesville.
Updated Monday afternoon: CRC spokeswoman Meredith Beatrice provided some additional “bullet points”:
— She will also oversee public records requests and work with General Counsel William Spicola on legal analysis and drafting requests from CRC Commissioners.
— Need for the hire: “As CRC committees begin to review and consider 103 proposals, there is an additional staffing need to conduct legal analysis and assist all Commissioners with legal matters pertaining to CRC business.”
— She will report to Spicola and CRC Executive Director Jeff Woodburn.
— Lambert is licensed to practice law in Florida and Massachusetts.
