Lee Mangold gets Longwood Commissioner Matt Morgan’s endorsement in HD 28 race

Lee Mangold

Democratic Florida House candidate Lee Mangold has received the endorsement of Longwood City Commissioner Matt Morgan in the House District 28 race, Mangold’s campaign announced Wednesday.

Mangold, a cybersecurity entrepreneur and adjunct professor at the University of Central Florida, faces Republican David Smith in the HD 28 race, for a seat being vacated by Republican state Rep. Jason Brodeur.

“Lee is exactly what both Central Florida and more importantly, Tallahassee need at the moment in my opinion, and would be a great representative for both,” Morgan stated in a news release issued by Mangold’s campaign.

Morgan lauded Mangold’s commitment to education programs.

“This man has a tireless work ethic and one of the very few that is a non-career politician. Lee is an ‘every man’ simply looking to represent everyone. That’s what drew me to Lee the most; he is a family man simply looking to do what he can to help his fellow neighbor by representing them on a much larger scale. He’s not the type to play the game of using political office simply as ‘another wrung on the ladder,'” Morgan continued. “He feels that he can do what he has previously done, on a larger scale, and I admire that greatly in a candidate. It’s what makes him more relatable than pretty much anybody else out there in my opinion.

HD 28 covers northeast Seminole County, including a small portion of eastern Longwood.

Morgan, a former WWE wrestling star, was elected to the Longwood City Commission last fall.

“Matt Morgan is a prime example of effective leadership in government,” Mangold stated in the release. “I was proud to support him during his campaign, and I’m honored to have received his endorsement during my run for the State House. His passion for his work and his community is evident in everything he does. I’m  sincerely grateful for his kind words and his endorsement.”
