Some people anticipate a formal 2024 announcement at an Ohio rally for J.D. Vance.

Rick Scott continues to predict that Donald Trump will run in 2024, an announcement he expects at some point. But not Monday night, Scott said, instead predicting the announcement will happen in a few weeks.

“I’d be surprised,” he said on Boston’s WRKO radio, about rumors Trump will announce at an Ohio rally Monday. “I wouldn’t be surprised if he runs, but I’d be surprised if he announces earlier than, you know, sometime in the next few weeks.

“President Trump is very committed to making sure we win all our races. He’s endorsed J.D. Vance, endorsed quite a few people, and he wants them to win. He’s raised money. He’s done rallies for people. Doing telephone town halls. He’s doing everything he can to make sure we win.”

Scott said the same thing in a previous radio hit Monday afternoon.

“I don’t know when he’s going to announce. I wouldn’t be surprised if he runs. I think there’s going to be quite a few people who want to run for President. So we’ll see what happens,” Scott told listeners to Charlotte’s WBT.

Trump is expected to announce imminently. Scott has continued to be officially noncommittal about such a move.

During an appearance on Meet the Press Sunday morning, Scott deflected when asked if he would back Trump’s third run for the White House.

“There’s going to be a lot of people probably (going to) announce. We’ll watch what happens. I’m focused on getting a majority in the Senate,” Scott told host Chuck Todd.

Scott’s non-answer tracks with previous failures to offer a definitive response to the same question.

“There are lots of people that I know who are looking to run for President,” Scott told CNN’s Erin Burnett in July. “They’re going to all make a decision when they want to run. If President Trump or anybody else wants to announce, they’ll do that.”

On a Mississippi radio show the same month, Scott was asked about a potential showdown in the Primary between political ally Trump and his successor as Governor, Ron DeSantis.

“I have no idea. Who knows? DeSantis has a Governor’s race,” Scott said. “I don’t know who, but I think there’s going to be a lot of people who want to run. Everybody has an idea of how they can run this country better, so I think a lot of people are going to run.”

Trump has reportedly urged Scott to make a play for caucus leader Mitch McConnell’s post, and in Miami he offered glowing praise of Scott as “a “really outstanding man, he did a fantastic job as your Governor.”

Run him please. If he runs again, he will loose again! It’s been shown that people will vote for anyone over Trump. By default, Trump is responsible for anything and everything happening today because he was such an azzhole and got fired.🔥

DeSantis 2024!!! I take to republicans from all walks of life every day, and they all want to move on from Trump, and 99% of them support DeSantis.
