Greg Steube is fifth Florida Congressman to endorse Donald Trump for President

Make it five.

U.S. Rep. Greg Steube is endorsing Donald Trump for President in 2024. He is the fifth member of Florida’s congressional delegation to back Trump over unofficial contender Ron DeSantis.

The Sarasota Republican announced his endorsement on Newsmax.

“He’s the only person that can reverse on Day 1 all these disastrous policies of the (Joe) Biden administration,” Steube said. “The type of things that have happened under the Biden administration never would have happened under Trump.”

While Steube initially referred to the former President as “Donald J. Chump,” a gaffe liberal commentators pounced upon on social media, the endorsement was an indisputable win in the battle between two Florida men for front-runner status in 2024.

Steube was elected to Congress in 2016, the same year Trump won his first term in the White House. He also served almost two years in Congress with DeSantis before DeSantis resigned to run for Governor in late 2018.

Steube was also among the Republican members of the House who objected to certifying Biden’s election over Trump in 2020.

He follows U.S. Reps. Byron Donalds, Matt Gaetz, Anna Paulina Luna and Cory Mills in formally endorsing Trump for the GOP nomination.

Unlike those colleagues, Steube announced his support after DeSantis started calling members of the delegation asking them not to announce Trump endorsements, according to reporting by NBC News’ Matt Dixon.

Florida currently boasts 20 Republican U.S. Representatives in the state’s 28-member U.S. House delegation. At this point, a quarter of those have publicly come out for Trump. None have endorsed DeSantis, who hasn’t officially entered the race but who remains the only Republican polling anywhere close to Trump.

Steube, himself a veteran, stressed national security issues, including the withdrawal from Afghanistan, among his chief issues. He also said the America First movement driving conservative politics was built around Trump’s message.

Steube’s congressional campaign also released a statement. “President Trump’s first term was full of extraordinary accomplishments,” the statement said.

“Floridians need him back in the White House to finish the job. No one will drain the corrupt swamp like President Trump. He loves our country and is a proven fighter for our Veterans, Second Amendment Rights, and Border Security. Let’s make America strong, safe, and great once again!”

“He’s widely supported in my district, widely supported in Florida, and I’m honored to add my endorsement to the long list of endorsements for President Trump,” Steube told Newsmax.

Asked specifically about choosing Trump over DeSantis, Steube cited a longer relationship.

“President Trump has always been there both personally and professionally,” Steube said.

“I think the America First agenda is what people in Florida are looking for. Gov. DeSantis just recently got elected, he hasn’t even been re-elected for six months, and I would hope that he would continue to concentrate on the great job he’s doing as the Governor of the state of Florida.”

Get off the Trump Train to Hell, the Trump Clown Car, and the Trump Wreck…no sense in riding the crime wave. Founding fathers would have found the man an appalling buffoon. They would have ensured a man like that would have never run much less got the nomination for president.

My goodness, is there any rational Republican left? They only represent their selfish egos… They don’t know how to represent the interests of the majority in the state of Fl. Matter of fact, the majority of Americans watched the Jan 6 insurrection live and then watched cowards like Steube, vote against impeaching traitor Trump for 2nd time! They are all sycophants feeding off Trump. The FL Republican party is a betrayal to the people of Florida. They are spineless, morally corrupt politicians. They keep banking on the dark money and greed to power their hate filled agenda …

Ever ask yourself how in the heck did they develop so much on President Trump and NEVER on others who were blatantly ruining the country?
I don’t get why so many are so blind to what is happening. They are trying way to hard to bury this man. 🤔
By the way? I have been a Dem since 82.. but will be changing that very soon.

Really — what’s your “real” name btw? Troll for Trump? Folks are so much more smarter and more progressive in Florida and we are so tired of all this BS coming out of the Republican propaganda machine. It’s mind numbing and repetitive. All attacks, laws to attack trans-kids, attack women, attack education, attack African American studies, attack Biden, attack Pelosi, and so on..and so on…. No plans, just laws dictating how people can live their lives. It doesn’t matter you’ve been a Dem since 82, embrace REALITY – Trump is a traitor and should be in jail at this point. Can we all progress forward and save the planet for the next generation? Or are selfishly preparing end times?
