‘I understand firsthand the challenges our local governments face … and look forward to continuing our work together.’

Rep. Christine Hunschofsky is stacking honors.

The Florida League of Cities just gave her a 2025 “Legislative Appreciation Award,” citing her work during the 2025 Session to protect the local decision-making of Florida municipalities.

Hunschofsky, a former Parkland Mayor now set to lead House Democrats during the 2026-28 term, expressed gratitude for the League’s recognition.

“Our cities and towns are closest to the people they serve, and their voices matter,” she said in a statement.

“I understand firsthand the challenges our local governments face … and look forward to continuing our work together.”

Hunschofsky’s most recent laurel, bestowed last week at the Florida League of Cities’ annual conference in Orlando, follows an “Elected Official of the Year” award she won recently from the National Association of Social Workers’ Florida Chapter.

Several of Hunschofsky’s bill slots in the last Legislative Session were social work-focused, including two passed measures (HB 809, SB 1620) aimed at eliminating barriers for school social workers and strengthening Florida’s behavioral health systems.

She also passed two city-specific bills (HB 4023 and HB 4071) to aid municipalities in Broward County and cosponsored several other proposals benefitting localities.

Hunschofsky won her state seat in 2020. She represents House District 95, which covers an inland portion of Broward that includes Coconut Creek, Margate, Parkland and parts of Coral Springs.

She won re-election unopposed last year.
