Illuminate Jax to stage mock-up at Jacksonville Bank Building

The team behind the innovative Illuminate Jax proposal to light up the Jacksonville skyline (with LED lights in office towers) is planning a mock-up run-through Tuesday night, and passers-by will be able to watch.

You can check it out at 7 p.m. at the Jacksonville Bank Building, located at 100 N. Laura St.

“Artful illumination of our skyline begins with 100 N. Laura, with a mock-up at 7 p.m. Tuesday,” said Illuminate Jax creator Margie Seaman of Seaman Realty and Management Company.

“It will be the first stage in lighting our skyline and bringing our game day messaging to the world!”

As FloridaPolitics.com has already reported, Illuminate Jax has been talking with the Lenny Curry administration and the Jacksonville Jaguars as possible underwriters of the project.

Seaman, who has been working on this vision for several years now, will stage the mock-up on the windows of the 10th floor of the Jacksonville Bank building with the technical assistance of Mark Kingsnorth of the Jax firm SESCO Lighting, along with lighting designer David Laffitte. Laffitte designed the lighting on Jacksonville’s Main Street Bridge, the Acosta Bridge, and the 13th Street “double helix” pedestrian bridge in Gainesville. The fourth member of the team is Jeremy Marquis, principal of Marquis Halback Architects.

The lighting proposal is designed to activate empty spaces downtown, especially at night, and draw visitors to the city’s urban core. It’s also a way for the Jaguars to get their message potentially out on national TV during game days.
