Lauren Book trumped by Donald Trump

Two weeks into her seventh annual “Walk in My Shoes” journey across the state of Florida, Lauren Book and her team have been trumped … by Donald Trump!

Book’s team arrived in Tampa Sunday night. They have been doing what they do … walking through and holding events aimed at educating communities and raising awareness about prevention of and healing from child sexual abuse. They have already been to Panama City, Tallahassee, Gainesville, Melbourne and Orlando — now they’re in Tampa.

The idea was to spend the week renovating a living room, playroom and laundry rooms at Alpha House of Tampa, which houses young, homeless pregnant women and new mothers and giving them a safe place to get on their feet and break the cycles of abuse.  This afternoon, Book was scheduled to have her first 4.2-mile awareness walk of the week (4.2 miles for the 42 million survivors of child sexual abuse living in the U.S. today), but along comes THE DONALD!

As a result of Trump’s entourage and the throngs of lovers (and haters), law enforcement had to move their efforts in order to deal with that mayhem.

Book still plans to go forward with the scheduled walks Tuesday through Friday, when she will also hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Alpha House and unveil the newly renovated and redecorated rooms.

Book said, “While I am disappointed to have to call off today’s Walk, the announcement has actually helped raise awareness as people are reaching out and pledging their support of our efforts, asking how they can help and get involved. We still have a major task under FOOT at Alpha House, and lots of work to be done … And if Mr. Trump would like to swing by after his events today, we’ll have a paintbrush and a roller ready!”

I don’t care for Trump but I’m glad he ruined Peter’s wet dream for a day. I’m still waiting for people to question Book the crook on any other issue besides this one. You’d think Floridians actually care about little things like health care, cleaning up the rampant political corruption (I can see why Lauren REALLY wants to dodge that one), or unemployment and jobs.
