The Miami-Dade Democratic Party has hired former teacher and political activist Aaron Bos-Lun as the group’s new executive director.
“Our leadership team is justifiably elated to welcome Aaron,” said Steve Simeonidis, who serves as Chair of the Miami-Dade Democratic Party. “His broad experience will act as a significant asset to further our mission of electing Democrats up and down the ballot.”
Prior to joining the Miami-Dade Democrats, Bos-Lun served as Chair of Engage Miami, a group aimed at getting young people involved in the political process.
He has also served on the Boards of the Miami Beach Democratic Club and New Leaders Council. Bos-Lun is also a former Executive Vice President of the Miami-Dade Young Democrats.
Bos-Lun has also been active regarding LGBT issues. He’s written about his decision to come out as gay while teaching high school, as well as his efforts to set up a Gay-Straight Alliance group at Homestead Senior High School.
“Miami is home, and I am extremely excited to step into the Executive Director role,” Bos-Lun said.
“In Miami-Dade we’re going to focus on supporting leaders that believe in issues like access to affordable health care, compassionate immigration reform, and a great public education. We’re better than these last few years under Donald Trump.”
