U.S. Rep. Cory Mills raised more than a quarter million dollars for his re-election campaign in the first quarter of 2025.
The New Smyrna Beach Republican may need it, as national Democrats turn their sights on his battleground seat. But for now, he has a massive cash advantage over Democrat Jennifer Adams, the only other candidate who has filed in Florida’s 7th Congressional District.
A quarterly report filed with the Federal Election Commission shows Mills raised more than $284,000 from Jan. 1 to March 31. He already spent most of it and closed the quarter with under $92,000 in cash on hand.
A significant amount of Mills’ fundraising, nearly $170,000, came from unitemized individual contributions, small-dollar donations of less than $200. Another $42,000 also came from individuals.
He only received $6,000 from PACs, half of that from the National Association of Realtors. Mills also reported $1,000 donations from the National Drug and Alcohol Screening Association, Resolute Forest Products and the Southern States PAC.
The remaining $66,000 came from authorized committee transfers.
Meanwhile, Adams has raised less than $1,800.
Adams also challenged Mills in 2024, but the incumbent won a second term in the House with a 13-percentage-point margin.
That was two years after Mills flipped CD 7 red, thanks in large part to redistricting significantly changing the makeup of the seat and former U.S. Rep. Stephanie Murphy, a Winter Park Democrat, opting not to seek re-election.
In both those election cycles, national Democrats largely ceded the district to the GOP. But the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee this month put Mills’ seat in its list of Republican-held “Districts in Play,” and since then has regularly issued statements criticizing Mills for his votes in Congress.
Mills, notably, may not seek re-election and has teased a potential run for Senate in a Republican Primary against appointed U.S. Sen. Ashley Moody. But he also has come under scrutiny following a domestic incident with a woman living in the same Washington apartment complex who briefly reported Mills for assault, but later pursued no action.

The incident became widely known in late February, so the actual story of interest is: what happened with donations before then, as opposed to afterward.
